Facebook Fiasco: Live Feed And News Feed

I'm sure that a lot of people using Facebook are having trouble with the new look and feel of it. I've heard a lot of comments from a lot of different people and they really don't like it all. They range from things like: "I have more junk popping up on my home page now than ever before." to "Why am I only getting yesterday's posts?" I know that you might think that it's a bit trivial, but then a lot of people really are confused. So I'll give you a little head's up. What is the difference between Live Feed and News Feed?

Live Feed - This is what you'd see on your home page before Facebook changed what it looked like.

Net Neutrality And Why You Should Care

You might not have heard about it, but there's an ongoing battle for your internet privileges. What I believed to be a battle between Google and AT&T is a wide scale battle for net neutrality. If you've heard about this and you have no idea what this means, I’ll try to explain it in the most understandable way possible. Basically we're looking at a way to keep the net the way it is, or because of uncommon user experiences, the way it generally is. That means you get to go to whatever lawful site that you want whenever you want or doing whatever you want online as long as it's legal.

The Day After Windows 7 Released

Now that Windows 7 is out we can put all the predictions to the test. While some have opted to stick it out with XP, everyone else that upgraded from Vista is having a ball. So if you're a Vista user and you still didn't get your Windows 7 upgrade, what are you waiting for? I've written several blog posts about Windows 7 but now it's time for you to try it yourself. To recap, Microsoft is selling an Upgrade from Vista for $119.99 while a clean installation will cost you $199.99. You have an $80 dollar difference, but even if you've got XP, a clean installation is still well worth it.

The Trouble With Twitter

I've often wondered why a lot of people use Twitter. I've never talked about it with other people before today, when another tech blogger brought it to my attention. I use the social networking site myself, but I've been using other social networking sites as well. In my opinion Twitter fails in a lot of things and the only thing it's supposed to focus on isn't that great at all. In fact it sort of fails in that respect as well. Okay, you deserve an explanation and I'm going to give an explanation, but to make things more concrete I'll be using other social networking sites, mainly Plurk, as a basis for comparison.

Google Says, Don't Forget Bob

I'm sure that a lot of us have trouble with e-mail from time to time. If it's not one thing it's another. Am I right? But I guess that one thing that we have probably done at one point in our lives is send someone the wrong e-mail. When you have an argument, you can say all sorts of nasty things, but these messengers are tricky little things. On Yahoo! messenger, for example, a new chat window opens up and gets priority over anything else that you've been doing, even while you're currently typing. So if you weren't looking at what you were typing and suddenly pressed the send button you'd probably send a hate message to that girl you liked who sent you an instant message, or even worse, you could have sent a hate message to your mom.

How To Use Facebook

With all the people that are connecting to the internet it's practically a requirement to have some sort of social media connectivity. If you've just been going on the internet just to read the news or because you use e-mail, then it shouldn't be anymore trouble to start a social networking account. Twitter and Facebook are very popular forms of social networking websites and it's always best to have an account at the most popular one. Why? simply because it's popular. Logically, the more popular it is the more people know about it, and the more people that know about it, it just means that more people use it.

What Is Open Office?

In light of the recent developments of Microsoft's Ad-supported Office Starter 2010, I think it's quite appropriate for people to start looking for an alternative works software. Personally, I think this is a double edged sword for Microsoft. The good part is that their office software will be available to more people for free, but then the downside is that you'll be annoyed by ads flashing on your screen. It might not appear that bad, who knows? 2010 is still months away and we don't know what can change in the next few months, but as it stands, this doesn't seem like something to suffer.

Removing Stress From Your Computer

I seem to hear more and more about ergonomics these days. Friends and relatives constantly ask me how I work since because they know that I deal with computers a lot and I basically work around the clock, which really is the case when you try to do consultant work here and there, outsource programming and run a blog site. People everywhere are starting to feel the need for ergonomics because they too work around the clock on computers. Whether you're a clerk, a manager of your own store or even if you barely deal with a computer at all, you'll start feeling the stress of a desk job.

The Healthiest Iphone Apps

If you've seen Disney Pixar's Wall-E, you might come to believe that technology has it in for us. because we build machines to do all the work for us, we soon forget that we can do some of the manual labor ourselves and in turn we take our body for granted. We might think that as long as we have the brains to build something to take care of our manual labor for us, we might as well let the machine do it because, let's face it, that's what they were built to do. Pretty soon we avoid walking a few blocks to work because the bus stops by the place anyway.

Video Leak Of The Microsoft Courier

I think I've found the most beautiful thing that Microsoft has ever come up with. Well, maybe Project Natal will probably the most amazing thing that Microsoft has ever come up with, but this one is the latest leak to hit the net. So now we know more about the tablet Courier; what it's supposed to look like and what it can potentially do. The only snag is that there isn't any official statement yet. This is just a leak. What we have now is an idea of what it might come out as, but things are still subject to change and we can hope that all the changes will be to expand it's range of abilities rather than to limit the stuff that it already does.

The video itself is really self explanatory.
