Let There Be Wi-fi... At Home

There are people with big families that have needs that are much different than those with smaller families, obviously. So when you want to give your children and yourself the benefit of being always connected to the internet and not wanting to have to wait your turn on a desktop and you don't want to have to hear them fighting over whose turn it is to use the Ethernet connection, then it's so much better to a wireless network because that way you get to have a certain level of control and you transferring files from one computer or another shouldn't be a problem.

Psych Up For Windows 7

So, Windows 7, the upcoming new OS should be out and available for retail by October 22 this year. What do we have to look forward to? When Vista first came out lots of users were pretty disappointed because XP outperformed it in several aspects. As it stands now, developers say that it boots faster and shuts down faster than XP and vista and it can load files faster. While I haven't tried the Beta version myself, there are a few things to look forward to. People who have had trouble with viruses, spyware or any type of virus or software problem can look forward to what can potentially be a virus free environment.

Data Security Is Always A Priority

Although we still use rows and rows of file cabinets and mountains of folders to store company information, a lot of the information we store is kept in soft copy. Most companies keep their files in huge databases for easy searching. If they suddenly get lost, deleted, corrupted or stolen and the company doesn't keep any back up, then your company might take months to recover from a large scale loss. You might lose that one important account because of someone in the office downloading something he isn't supposed to and the big account goes down and goes to someone else.

Xbox 360 Project Natal: Next Gen Technology

I've said this before and I enjoy saying it, when it comes to innovating computer technology, video games has contributed more than any other industry in the business. It was because of video games that 3D models and sprites were developed and why there was a need to manufacture more advanced video and sound cards. Because there is a high demand for maximum hardware capacity to optimize gaming speed, better and faster motherboards, processors and RAM were built. Project Natal is Microsoft's latest advancement in the world of gaming and can potentially reinvent our interaction and experience with computers and software.

Shutdown Problem? Let's Solve It

So, I was riding with a buddy of mine and he says that he needs to pick up his girlfriend. Not having anything to do by myself, I decided to go with him since we were going out anyway. We're in the living room waiting for her to come downstairs. She said that she was ready to leave but she was waiting for her pc to shutdown. We were waiting for thirty minutes before I decided to check what was up. And there she was; sitting in front of her pc, staring at a blue screen that said "Windows is shutting down." My initial reaction was to smack my forehead, but then I just went to reboot her pc and started taking care of the problem.

There Is No Universal Antivirus

Why do you need Security in your computer? Have you ever asked yourself that or do you just go out and get the top of the line antivirus and install it anyway? Do you know what you're protecting yourself from or do you just listen to what everyone else says and just get an antivirus because that's standard for a computer to have and you just really need one? Of course you need antivirus software, but you also need to know what you're protecting yourself against and how competent the software in question is. It's pretty useful to have one, but don't think that having one will protect you from all the harmful viruses that you can collect from the internet.

Solar Cell Phones - I Think We're In The Future

Through the years, technology has been innovating itself not just to be efficient and competent but now, also environmental friendly. We've had eco-friendly cars come out of the woodwork and we've had friendlier air-conditioners and even companies with several servers cut back on carbon emission simply by cooling the specific parts of the server that need to be cooled. Suffice to say, we've all become very concerned about the environment not only because we're afraid of global warming, but also because it just conserves the environment and the limited amount of power source that we have. Back in June, China released the first ever solar powered cell phone.

Be Your Own Laptop Hunter

I thought I was never going to write about it, let alone take a side (sort of), but I believe I'm going to be adding to the long standing write ups of PC vs Mac. Now why did I say I was taking a side (sort of)? Well, first off I wouldn't be writing this stuff if I didn't come across a certain article about certain videos that Microsoft. I'm going to stop beating around the bush now. Have you ever heard of Laptop Hunter? I didn't give it a second thought when I first saw the video because to me, they were just obviously showing just another of the big difference between the PC and the Mac and I believed that it was practically common knowledge.

Block A Website And Protect Your Kid

We all agree that the internet can be an unfriendly place to visit. It holds all sorts of viruses and lot's of content that isn't suitable for kids. Ads can just pop up while your son is casually browsing for his favorite web comic or doing research for a paper or some school thing, and then he sees something that he shouldn't have pop right out of nowhere. It could be pornography or an image that's much worse and he goes, "I'm 12, what is this?" You wouldn’t have this problem if you knew how to block a website.

Build A Gaming Pc

Some guys I knew back in college had different kinds of computers in their room. While a lot of them mostly had notebooks, I knew some people who preferred to keep desktops. It came to as a surprise however to see that a lot of the people that had the latter didn't own a custom pc. I assumed that because it was the grand stage of experimentation, they'd have those at least. A gamer friend of mine back then owned one that was pre-built and was constantly frustrated me with the games that he bought and that eventually couldn't run properly because of the wrong pc gaming parts that led to performance issues.
