If you've seen Disney Pixar's Wall-E, you might come to believe that technology has it in for us. because we build machines to do all the work for us, we soon forget that we can do some of the manual labor ourselves and in turn we take our body for granted. We might think that as long as we have the brains to build something to take care of our manual labor for us, we might as well let the machine do it because, let's face it, that's what they were built to do. Pretty soon we avoid walking a few blocks to work because the bus stops by the place anyway. advertisement
We avoid taking the stairs because we've got elevators and escalators and guess what, we can ride the Segway up the stairs if we're too lazy to do it. You might say that machines have it in for us because they make life so convenient that we lose opportunities to burn our body fat naturally by doing ordinary strenuous activities. On that note, let me tell you that not all technological devices built for our convenience are out there to turn us into unhealthy slobs. No, I'm not talking about an exercise machine, I'm talking about more wonders of the iPhone. With a huge variety of healthy applications sold at the app store, you'll feel fit and healthy and never fear the man's doom at the hands of machines.
So here's a list of the healthiest applications out there.
- iFukkin. I'm not kidding you. It turns out that Fukkin is actually Japanese for ab and you know how hard it is to wok on your abs. You'll be motivated by your own hot Japanese cheerleader. What more motivation do you need? If you don't understand Nippongo, no problem. Her energetic gestures will be enough to encourage you to do those sit-ups.
- iSleepDiary. Back in college, I knew people who stayed up late because they wanted to lose weight, not to study, to lose weight. Sure studying would be part of their reason, but they believed that depriving themselves of healthy sleep would help them lose weight. Bad idea. iSleepDiary is an app that asks you a set of ten simple questions pertaining to how well you slept the night before. It'll asses if you had a healthy good night's sleep, if you need some more sleep or if you should go see a physician.
- TwoFoods. A lot of people who are on a diet are calorie counters. Sometimes calorie counters find food that might be healthier than it seems so it's better to be sure. TwoFoods compares two meals and determines which one is healthier by counting the amount of calories, fat, carbs and protein in the food. You'll never guess again.
- WeightBot. You need to know that you're actually losing weight. If you can see that you're losing weight it'll reinforce your diet and encourage you to go on. If you gained weight you'll know to cut down on your intake and work on your fukkin. Enter your weight into WeightBot and it will keep track of how much weight you're gaining or losing.
