Tags: computer software, gadgets, more about the tablet courier
I think I've found the most beautiful thing that Microsoft has ever come up with. Well, maybe Project Natal will probably the most amazing thing that Microsoft has ever come up with, but this one is the latest leak to hit the net. So now we know more about the tablet Courier; what it's supposed to look like and what it can potentially do. The only snag is that there isn't any official statement yet. This is just a leak. What we have now is an idea of what it might come out as, but things are still subject to change and we can hope that all the changes will be to expand it's range of abilities rather than to limit the stuff that it already does.
The video itself is really self explanatory. advertisement
It can surf the net, take pictures, synchronize with another PC and of course act like a true electric journal. The Infinite Journal is the tablet's true essence. With everything that it does, it's a must have for bloggers on the go. It makes photo blogging easier, great editing tools and it's pretty easy to operate. You don't need to work through codes or a series of menus and commands, all you have to do is act on instinct.
Firstly, what media applications does it have? Sure, it can go on the net, but can it play music or videos? We know that it can take pictures, but what about videos? What games can it play and what other applications does it feature and what else can it support? We know that it can synchronize with your PC and other Courier tablets, but what are the other ways you can load stuff into it? It may be the perfect blogger gadget but not everyone can use blogs, but it does have great potential to become a part of a student's everyday life.
It's just as portable as a laptop, and the OS doesn't look clunky, but the entire feel of the OS could be a different story. That's another high point of the Courier.
I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but the OS doesn't really feel like Windows, it feels like something else. On that note, I'll shut my mouth, but you can't do away with the unWindows feeling of it. I feel it's a good thing, but again, that remains to be seen. The feeling that the video gave off might be because of the focus on the Infinite Journal. This leads us to another question, other than the web browser, can we look at something that isn't Infinite Journal? It's nice to live in but we need other places to visit. I also hope that the browser isn't limited to Internet Explorer because that would just be bad.
Courier holds a lot of potential and we don't even know a lot about it yet. I hope we get more confirmation on it soon so we can really drool about something. I'm not forgetting about Apple's rumored tablet that still remains unconfirmed, but I'm really loving Courier right now.
