I've been hearing a lot of aching over the iPhone 3G on and off the web. Not only is it expensive but it is horribly very restricted. I know that a smart phone can be a very handy thing and very convenient, but as attached as I am to technology, I just don't see the it as something other than contacting people that I need to contact. I constantly bring my netbook with me. This is why I think buying an expensive phone with oodles of features would inevitably be redundant and irrelevant, but then that's just me. I can understand, however, how people want to get the most out of their gadgets and that's why I think we need to evaluate the value of the iPhone 3g mobile. advertisement
There is just so much potential for it, but it's all being restricted for very dubious reasons and agreements. I found this article on Wired and I thought that I should share it because this is pretty relevant to anyone who wants to buy the iPhone. Basically, if you don't want to pay a thousand dollars a month just to call and send SMS and enjoy the best applications the mobile has to offer, then this is the path for you. I don't want to persuade anyone, I just want to lay down some facts that I hope will be taken into consideration. Apple has been around forever and they keep releasing great pieces of technology for the consumption of the general public, but they still have their downsides.
Google Voice is probably one of the best things to happen to your cell phone, but unfortunately, you won't be able to find any Google applications on the iStore on your phone because Apple banned all of them. Google Voice allows people to send free text messages and allows you to make cheap calls. What's not to like about it? Wired thinks that this should be the number one reason why you should jailbreak your phone because compared to all the other reasons, this seems to resonate brighter than all of them. The alternate to a high-priced monthly price tag is a free application. The 3G restriction is pretty annoying as well. You'd think that because you pay a lot of money, you'd get unlimited connection to the web. Unfortunately, some of the key applications can only work with WI-FI. If you give the piece a good read, you can see that there are more reasons to jailbreak your phone. You just need to assure yourself that what you're doing isn't illegal, for now. With the number of restrictions on it, you'd be better off if you didn't stick to the applications that Apple and AT&T left you with.
