 Anyone who's gone to the iPhone app store knows that there are millions of applications to choose from. Some of them might are yet to be discovered wonders and some of them can be extremely useless. There are those that are extremely familiar to us and there are those that just pass unseen before our eyes because we don't recognize them and we don't want to spend on something that might be potentially be useless. How can you tell that what the good iPhone apps are without buying them? Most people just look at what the other guy's got and see if that works for them, sometimes without any real proof that it is something THAT good. If you're looking for something specific, then I've come to help you out.

Without further ado, I'll be presenting my take on which ones are great to have and which ones are just nifty to show your friends. What's great to have? It's not necessarily the most useful thing to have but it's that's different from the basic things that you want to expect from your iPhone. In this case, you should go for Pandora. I'm constantly bothered by the fact that I listen to the same albums all the time. Whenever I want new music I have to look for it on youtube and even then I don't know what I want to look for. Pandora gives you the luxury of not having to look for songs manually.
You put in the kind of music that you listen to and it starts streaming new songs for your musical pallet. If you can't be bothered to pick up the paper from the local stand then have your iPhone pick it up for you. The New York Times provides a unique service to the iPhone by featuring the day's most popular article or you can find it yourself. Instapaper is one of the apps that is probably between surprisingly useful and pretty nifty to keep around, so you should definitely get it. You can look for articles or anything you want to read online and then send it over to your phone for later reading. You need to set up an account at instapaper.com first, but it’s well worth it. Midomi is what I would consider a nifty app. It’s not particularly useful but you want to have it around in case you have a tune in your head and you don’t know where it’s from. You can hum the tune and it’ll try to tell you where it’s from and link you to a related youtube video or sell you the song.
