Dead Pixels On Everyone's Monitors

Tags: , ,

I'm sure this may come as a surprise to you, or it might not all the same, but I know that your monitor is on the glitch. That's right. I know that right at this very moment, as you're reading my blog post you’re looking at an LCD monitor with dead pixels all over the screen. Yes, I know it's happening to you because it's happening to thousands of people all over the country and probably all over the world. If you don't see any blank pixels on your computer monitor then it’s probably new or it wasn't built in the last two years. You can find some of the details on this site but basically, someone or a whole bunch of people screwed up and that's why you have a screen with dead pixels.

The problem stems from a whole set of panels made from 2007 to 2008. These panels were used to manufacture LCD monitors to LCD TVs that come in sizes as small as 10"netbook screens up to 26" LCD TV screens. The problem, as Hexus pointed out, was with the manufacturers of the panels, JMC. At the moment they're trying to recall which line of products have the problem. A whole lot of monitors are going to be recalled because of this one glitch. This is because JMC provides, as the article states: "panels to nearly 50% of PC monitor manufacturers and 40% of TV makers." Holding on to your dead pixel policy probably won't help.

As you're reading this, whoever you bought your monitor from probably won't be replacing any of the monitors that have the dead pixel problem because of the policy revisions that are taking place. But then that's just speculation and they might not get away with doing that legally. Anyway, if you're still not sure that you have this problem with your LCD, then you can refer to the link above and try out the test page that they set up. The test page will show you if you have the same problem. The test is pretty simple and you can tell right away. You probably don't even need to take the test since the defect is pretty apparent when you watch videos on youtube or by simply looking carefully at the missing pixels of color when you're typing. If you think your computer has a virus then I recommend that you take the test before jumping to any conclusions. You wouldn't want to put the blame on someone or on yourself for that matter. You’re not alone in this. If you eventually decide to call in your warranty and you’re not given what’s rightfully yours, there will be a huge number of people and probably very powerful firms that can back you up. I know this because I own one of the broken LCD monitors and I’m currently using my trusty yet energy consuming CRT monitor.
