Psych Up For Windows 7

Tags: , ,

So, Windows 7, the upcoming new OS should be out and available for retail by October 22 this year. What do we have to look forward to? When Vista first came out lots of users were pretty disappointed because XP outperformed it in several aspects. As it stands now, developers say that it boots faster and shuts down faster than XP and vista and it can load files faster. While I haven't tried the Beta version myself, there are a few things to look forward to. People who have had trouble with viruses, spyware or any type of virus or software problem can look forward to what can potentially be a virus free environment. While there isn't an assurance of that, Windows 7 was practically built to withstand those problems.

The OS bodes to be a new refined version of Vista with a bunch of new features other than the supposed performance innovation and the simplification of the entire system. You can check out the Windows 7 website and check out the details yourself but let me just give you the simple details to the all new features. Basically, other than make everything simpler, Windows 7 wants to make everything more convenient. One of the improvements that I look forward to isn't really integral, but convenient if you're like seeing your desktop and you use your mouse more often than you use your keyboard. I put a lot of effort into making my desktop look nice and minimalist.

The improved task bar should make my life easier because it works like rocket dock except it's smaller, it doesn't interfere with the other programs that I have open and I don't have to hide it because it will have it's own special non-interfering space at the bottom of the screen. The new taskbar should also have a feature that works like the "recent documents" menu in the XP start-up button and the search feature should work better with people who are used to searching for stuff on Google or Yahoo! because of the auto completer. Additionally, it will have a nifty little button at the bottom right of the screen that minimizes all open applications and clicking it again will maximize everything; a slight improvement to the show desktop button. This however, is one of the buttons that you can touch with your finger when you have the touch screen hardware. Windows 7 will also be the new home of Internet Explorer 8. The search tab on Internet Explorer 8 will pretty much work like the search tab that you have on the upper right corner of a Firefox browser or a Netscape browser that will populate the search options with previous pages that you've visited when you start typing the first few letters of what you're looking for. Windows 7 should prove to be a definite improvement from Vista since it took out a few of the extras that weren't really doing anything for the OS like the desktop calendar to name a few, but it also got rid of the original star menu. Some of the new stuff featured on the site might and some that were available during the beta release might not be available when it finally gets released on October 22 this year, but Microsoft will also be making available a few other extras to make Windows 7 feel familiar to the majority of their market and subscribers if it doesn't feel too comfortable. They don't want to make it feel as alien as Vista was when it came out.
